Meet the Executive Board: Vice President

Hey NSBE! What's crackalackin? I hope everyone is having a great summer and is looking forward to taking advantage of all the things NSBE-PSU has planned for you this coming year! We on the EBoard are excited and honored to represent our amazing chapter and help move us forward.

My name is Brianna Hammond (yes, like the Hammond building...no relation though) and I'll be a junior in the upcoming year. I started as an Aerospace Engineer, but this year I'll be starting in my new major of Energy, Business, and Finance with the Geographic Information Systems options. Even though I'm no longer in the College of Engineering, I still know a lot about the College, particularly the MEP. I'm writing this from the 5th floor of Beaver Hall, where I'm staying as a Program Assistant for the PREF (PRE First year in science and engineering), and will be for the next six weeks. I'm PAing with two other NSBE members, so don't worry, the incoming freshman will provide a strong class for our chapter to grab ahold of.

Anyway, I live with my mom, dad, sister, and two cats in Sterling, Virginia. That's right outside of DC. NSBE is pretty much my baby but I really enjoy singing, and I was the captain of my color guard at my high school. Last year I was the NSBE Communication Chair for our chapter.

That's enough rambling on my part, but feel free to email me at vp.nsbe.psu@gmail.com!! I'd love to hear our members' ideas and concerns and even life stories!

Until next time, stay 2 Hype!!

Love,

Bri

Meet the Executive Board: Pre College Initiative Chair

Hey my NSBE FAM! How's it going? As many of you may know, I'm Cavon Cormack. I'm a junior, majoring in Aerospace Engineering and your current Pre-College Initiative Chairperson (PCI). Well a quick summer report for you from me: I took 2 summer classes @ the Abington campus. CMPSC 201 & MATH 250. They were cool. Waking up @ 5:30 to get to an 8 am class (MATH 250) was not cool though. No one should be thinking about equations or math @ 8 am, that should be against summer laws. I got through it though, and the Prof. was mad cool, so I can't complain about it too much. I'm definitely not complaining about the B+. I pulled a B out of the comp sci class. Well following the classes, it's time to find myself a job and just hang out with the immediate fam and let the rest of the summer fall into place.

Can I get a 2222 HYPE!!!!

Oh I forgot to add, you can contact me @ pci.nsbe.psu@gmail.com.

Meet the Executive Board: Treasurer

What’s up NSBE?

My name is DesirĂ© Williams (please call me Desi) and I am your 2010-2011 Treasurer for the Fall and Spring Semesters.  I am a junior majoring in Electrical Engineering with a possible specialization in Remote Sensing & Space Systems.  I am from Woodbridge, VA also known as the DMV area.   I work for BAE Systems at the Electronic, Intelligence & Support site in Manassas, VA.  Every day, except for every other Friday and the weekends, I inspect and package modules for their execution of their respective qualification tests.  This is my second year interning with BAE Systems and I enjoy it very much.  When I have free time, I enjoy playing DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) and beating people in Super Smash Brothers BRAWL (go Kirby!)  Video games are a big part of my life and I try to find time to have a little bit of fun!  If anybody wants to get their Xbox Live on, my gamertag is: blusaint or if you just want to chat, my email is treasurer.nsbe.psu@gmail.com

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and I hope to meet each you guys in the fall!

Meet the Executive Board: Academic Excellence Chair

Hey NSBE, I hope everyone is having a good summer, I know I am (for the most part...). This is your Academic Excellence Chair, Chris Payne from South Florida. I'm a rising junior in Electrical Engineering, and I plan on minoring in Music Technology. I am a headphone/audio enthusiast (the loose term would be audiophile) so if anyone has any questions on new audio purchases ill be happy to help. But about my summer... I decided to work a part time job at an inventory company (I literally go to superstores like target and kmart and count their items) and it has probably been the worst decision of my summer. For example, two days ago I had to work from 5 A.M. to 5 P.M. right in time to make a guest appearance night shift (thanks to my boss) from 6 P.M. to 3 A.M. missing all of the world cup games, the NBA finals last game, my sanity and a whole bunch of sleep hours. Never again... and on the weekends, its South Beach, FL alldayerrday (yes, its one word, don't ask). My weekends definitely make up for the work days, so all in all its been a good summer so far. That's all from me, can't wait to start business during the fall. Peace.

Meet the Executive Board Blog Edition: President

Hello NSBErs,

My name is Kendal Coates and I am the Penn State NSBE President for Fall 2010 to Spring 2010 school year. I have a TON of plans for this year and I cannot wait to express them all to you. But first, before I begin that, I thought it would be meaningful if I told you a bit about myself. I would like all of my executive board to express them self and speak a bit about what they are doing for the summer. If anyone would like to share what they are doing this summer as well PLEASE send your emails about yourself and what you are doing this summer so we can post them on the blog. My email is president.nsbe.psu@gmail.com.

Like I said before, my name is Kendal Coates and I am a SUPER Senior in Industrial Engineering focusing in Manufacturing. I am from Pittsburgh and that is currently where I will be during the summer. I am working for the University of Pittsburgh as a Facilitator for a high school engineering summer program and I am also looking for a second job on the side to pay for my gas money. I am also taking two classes online. I enjoy going to the gym and keeping fit for the summer. I also have been playing a ton of basketball so far. I am really excited for Fall semester because I will be President and we have so many new events occurring that I hope the community of Penn State will enjoy. One thing I live by is staying true to myself and being prideful of what you do. The best quote I ever heard was from Harold and Kumar 2. When they meet George Bush and talk about the government, George Bush says to Kumar, "Its not about believing in the government of your country, its all about believing in the people of your country and what they will do." If you think about what he said, it was epic.

I hope to hear from many other NSBErs this summer and definitely use this as a way to keep in touch with Penn State NSBE!!!!
